A Tattoo As A Portal To The Spiritual World

When you put a tattoo on your body, that’s pretty big private decision. Sometimes the motivation to get a tattoo is to feel closer to someone whether that’s a sweetheart or someone in your family or to feel more connected to a group or cause you support. But when you permanently alter your physical body with a tattoo that’s a pretty strong emotional and even spiritual commitment because you will have that image with you forever.

For many of us whether we are religious or not, we feel the draw to the spiritual world and a desire for a greater communication with that world. One image that seems to rise above any one religion that is a common “conduit” for that communication is the angel. That is why angels pop up in movies and become important parts of people’s spiritual lives who may not have a direct connection to one religion.

You may have already noticed how peaceful it is having a figure or picture of an angel around at home or at work. From the teaching we get about angels, their jobs are to help people get connected to the spiritual world and the living things in that world, one of which is sometimes called “God”. But angels have lots of jobs including being “guardian angels” over babies and maybe over us when we are in trouble or while we sleep.

This important task of serving as our spiritual guardians is one reason we like to have pictures and statues of angels around. It helps remind us that our angel is there all the time. So the next step of taking an angel tattoo seems like a logical next step. Often the particular angel you have as your tattoo is not one particular named angel. But the image represents that desire to for you to get peace at that “soul” level of your being, that level that only you really know is there.

There is another job angel tattoos can be given in addition to being a comfort because angels are always near by to protect and guard you. They can also remind us that there is a spiritual side to our nature that we should be mindful of and to take time to think about bigger things like eternity and to think about that inner spiritual you. While many times we think, “I should spend more time in reflection and prayer”, life has a way of taking away the time for that so we forget to follow through on our good intentions. But your angel tattoo will never get left in the car or at home so she is always there to sweetly remind you to take that time for to give your soul some TLC, no matter where your travels take you.

The universal hunger for answers to spiritual questions may be one reason angel tattoos are quite popular. When you start looking for the angel tattoo pattern that fits your feeling about these spiritual creatures, the variety is large. You can find sweet peaceful angels, strong powerful archangels and even warrior angels who can live in that tattoo and defend your soul against spiritual evil.

Sometimes a reason that is just as strong for people to enjoy an angel tattoo is because it is a sweet and poetic way to remind ourselves of someone we care about who may have crossed over into that spiritual world already. The angel in the tattoo can represent the real angel who may be serving as that spiritual connection you often feel with the departed loved one. The angel can be there to comfort you that while you may miss that dear one, you will see him or her in another life and the angel will be there to help make that happen.

Obviously there are a lot of reasons for getting a tattoo that are not spiritual. And if you also want to get a tattoo that is attractive and pretty cool looking, you might be able to find an angel tattoo pattern that meets all of your requirements. Not only that, because your angel tattoo speaks of your spiritual side, it can serve to bring you together with others who have an interest in spiritual things. In doing so, the angel is doing her job of enabling communication between you and “God” and in bringing people together in spiritual harmony too. That’s a pretty hard working angel.
